UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT TEAMS WITH OIA TO DEVELOP ITS FIRST OFF CAMPUS OUTPATIENT IMAGING CENTER
Franklin, TN (April 25, 2024) – In a strategic move to expand access to its ambulatory imaging services, the University of Connecticut’s academic medical center, UConn Health, has joined forces with Outpatient Imaging Affiliates (OIA), the leading outpatient imaging provider and partner to health systems nationwide.
As UConn Health experiences unprecedented growth and patient volumes, this collaboration with OIA will further improve patient access to comprehensive outpatient imaging services, while expediting appointment requests and minimizing appointment wait times.
This represents the first location for UConn Health Imaging as a free-standing, nonhospital outpatient imaging facility. In addition, the new outpatient imaging service setting will help save on costs for UConn Health’s patients.
“UConn Health’s incredible growth over the past five years created patient access issues for timely imaging tests. We knew we needed to develop new access points and modernize our nonhospital imaging services to meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Chris Hyers, Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at UConn Health. “Collaborating with OIA provided us with the expertise needed to solve this critical problem and learn from the other academic medical centers who have previously partnered with OIA for similar reasons.”
The new UConn Health Imaging outpatient center is located a half-mile off-campus in Farmington, Connecticut, inside UConn Health’s new Brain and Spine Institute. The new building has its own parking lot, offering free, convenient parking for patients.
The outpatient imaging center at UConn Health opens in late April 2024. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by highly skilled technicians, the center will offer comprehensive outpatient imaging services, UConn Health Imaging will accept referral orders from UConn Health and community physicians alike for a full range of radiology services.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for both UConn Health and OIA,” commented Amy Stout, President at OIA. “By leveraging our collective expertise and resources, we are poised to better serve both patients and providers, and elevate access to imaging services for UConn Health patients and the surrounding communities.”
